Welcome to the K-3 Tech Blog!

Hello students and parents! My name is Mrs. Crowley and I teach technology to grades K, 1, 2, and 3 at SKS. I am excited to be here at St. Katharine's this year! We have already done so many fantastic tech projects this year in the brand new Media Center Lab. I will be using this blog as a way to communicate all of the wonderful work we do in the computer lab each week. Here are some things we have already completed and talked about in the first trimester by grade level.

Kindergarten:
*Getting to know the computer and its parts.
*Safety rules for using the internet and finding "Just Right" websites.
*Navigating the internet to find websites on a list of favorites.
*Creating pictures using a program called Tux Paint.
*Learning where the letters of the alphabet are on the keyboard.
*Working with Kidspiration to create a graphic organizer about the initials in our names.

First Grade:
*Talking about how to take care of respect our new equipment in the lab.
*Safety rules for using the internet and finding "Just Right" websites.
*Learning the "Homerow" and practicing our typing skills.
*Using Kidspiration to create "All About Me" alphabet charts.
*Typing and formatting a Thanksgiving poem on Microsoft Word.

Second Grade:
*Typing and formatting an All About Me paragraph using Microsoft Word.
*Discussing rules for internet safety and keeping personal information private when on the web. *Practicing typing skills.
*Creating character scrapbook pages from a story read in the classroom.
*Typing questions to be used for internet research on the First Thanksgiving.

Third Grade:
*Creating "All About Me" word clouds.
*Typing and formatting a paragraph about fall on Microsoft Word.
*Practicing typing skills.
*Creating short stories using ScholasticStory Starters.
*Discussing ways to be a good "Digital Citizen" when using technology. *Completing a Web Quest to research facts about the first Thanksgiving.
